Desire the Sincere Milk
Six Foundational Truths

• Is your spiritual walk unsatisfying or without Scripture-based nourishment at all?

• Does it seem as though most “bites” of modern theology tastes like the leaven of denominational error?

• Is your spirit starving?

To “desire” is not a passive wish; in Greek, epipotheō conveys an intense, insatiable craving, like a nursing infant whose entire survival depends on nourishment. If new believers are to grow, they must desire the milk word of truth like babes.

The milk is the basic elemental truth, the teachings of Christianity first learned by new believers.

The purpose of the milk is not merely intellectual accumulation or Bible study as a hobby. The purpose is meaningful and significant spiritual growth (auxanō).

In the natural order, an infant who does not grow is a cause for concern. As we consume the "milk word," our minds are renewed, and primed to move from the milk truths such as qualities needed for salvation, and other foundational teachings, toward the“meat word” required to do the work of the Kingdom. Therefore, as a babe feeds frequently, so too must the believer.

Then what exactly is the "milk" of the Word?

When we search Torah we discover there are six foundational truths or teachings found in Hebrews chapter 6, and seconded elsewhere.

Here is one of the six basic foundational milk truths listed in Hebrews:

“As newborn babes — desire the sincere milk of the Word, that ye may grow thereby."
1 Peter 2:2 (KJV)

NA28: ὡς ἀρτιγέννητα βρέφη τὸ λογικὸν ἄδολον γάλα ἐπιποθήσατε, ἵνα ἐν αὐτῷ αὐξηθῆτε εἰς σωτηρίαν

"Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God."
